OVERVIEW Viewpoint
Interchange is available for Microsoft Windows and SGI
IRIX. This manual describes both versions.
Memory requirements
Interchange's conversions are performed completely in
memory. This includes any virtual memory provided by the
operating system. You'll need more memory to convert
models that have large numbers of points, edges and
faces. A good rule of thumb is that if you can load and
render a 3D object in your modeling program, you have
enough memory to convert it to another format with
Interchange. If you can't convert a model with
Interchange because of a lack of memory, chances are good
that your system won't be able to render it, either.
Making Backups
Be sure to make a backup copy of the Interchange master
media. This personal backup copy is your protection
against catastrophic failure. Please do not give copies
to others. Please do not pirate Interchange.
Updates and
Registration
Please take a moment to fill out the registration card.
This is the only way we can tell you about bug fixes,
upgrades and new products. Even if you live outside the
United States, we'll tell you about upgrades. Only
registered owners can receive upgrades and technical
support. Your product's serial number is printed on the
registration card. Be sure that you have a copy of this
number. You must supply it when you request an upgrade or
call for technical support.
Technical support
Technical support is available to all registered
customers. Support is available in several forms. If you
need help immediately, you can contact technical support
at the phone number below. Be sure to have your
registration card and serial number ready when you call.
We may ask you to send us the file that
demonstrates the problem. We consider your data
confidential, of course. Without the file, it is often
difficult to find the bug or explain the problem.
If you prefer to write, contact
technical support at the address on the cover page of
this manual. Include a disk with the problem object, and
be sure to write your name and address on the disk label.
For technical support, call (801)
229-3000 or fax (801) 229-3300.
The Viewpoint DataLabs web site is at www.viewpoint.com. You can send a technical support request to support@viewpoint.com.

We would like to thank all the people who help develop
and test the Interchange system, especially those
software companies who give us the information we need to
translate their file formats.
